Job opp: Online editor at Ode

Ode Magazine, the international magazine for positive change is seeking a Web Producer and Online Editor to join our young U.S. company. Ode Magazine was established in The Netherlands in 1995. The international, English-language edition
team has just established a presence in the US with offices in Mill Valley, just north of San Francisco.


Ode will launch a new website in the coming months. This site will serve the International community around Ode that is dedicated to offering up solutions to world problems and challenges and to making the world a better place. The new site will feature online content from the magazine, as well as active social networking and user generated content opportunities.


We're looking for a Web 2.0 Internet technology fanatic with a passion for and experience in social networking and user-generated content sites, in addition to having an affinity and flair for language, since part of the job will consist of basic editing and tidying up of copy, devising headlines and captions, penning short descriptions of articles as well as creating original short texts for specific
sections of the site. 2-3 years minimum experience required.


You will monitor online discussion groups, initiate discussions and identify opportunities for new online content. You'll have a special opportunity
to build a meaningful and international online community focused on positive change in the world.


You'll cooperate closely with the editorial teams in the U.S. and Europe.
Must-have technical skills include: mastery of HTML, CSS, Indesign, BBEdit, Photoshop, ImageReady as well as reasonably high comfort level with an FTP client. Desirable but not essential technical skills include proficiency with Unix and Perl and familiarity with Apache, MySQL and Javascript.

Although Ode has been around for 12 years, we are relatively new in the US, and are working with a small team with a start-up attitude.
